Common questions

FAQ

Is The Compass medical advice?+

No. It's an evidence-based parenting guide. We surface red flags clearly and tell you when to call your pediatrician, but we are not a clinical service.

Who is behind the content?+

The current content is drafted from authoritative sources — AAP, CDC, NIH, WHO, and peer-reviewed studies — and reviewed by the founder. We will recruit a clinical advisory board (pediatrician, developmental psychologist, child mental-health clinician) before exiting beta.

How is my data used?+

Your data is yours. We never sell it, never use it to train external models, never use it for advertising. You can export everything as JSON and delete your account at any time. Full details in the privacy policy.

What if I don't agree with a recommendation?+

We tell you when experts disagree, and we present alternatives where the evidence is genuinely contested. For settled science (vaccination, sleep position, corporal punishment) we will not both-sides — but we will explain why.

Can both parents use one account?+

Yes. Each child can have multiple caregivers — partners, grandparents, nannies — with appropriate access. (Multi-caregiver invites land in Phase 2.)

Does it work for non-traditional families?+

Yes. The product makes no assumptions about family structure, gender of parents, or biological relation. Where guidance differs by sex of the child for medical reasons, we say so plainly.

Is there an app?+

Not yet. The web app is mobile-friendly. A native app or PWA is on the roadmap.

How much does it cost?+

Free during launch. We will introduce paid tiers later for advanced features (reminders, growth charts, journaling). Core safety content will always remain free.
