Nine stages. A different focus in each.
A 24-month-old who isn't talking yet needs different guidance than a 24-month-old in full sentences. The Compass uses short, periodic check-ins to tailor content to where your child actually is.
- 0 – 3 months
Newborn
Feed, soothe, sleep safely, watch for warning signs, and bond. Nothing else matters yet.
Weekly increments - 3 – 12 months
Older infant
Solids, sleep, motor development, language, and the first big developmental leaps. Babyproof early.
Monthly increments - 12 – 36 months
Toddler
Walking, talking, big feelings. Co-regulation is the work of this stage. Routines beat rules.
Quarterly - 3 – 5 years
Preschool
Pretend play, peers, kindergarten readiness. The fastest period of executive-function growth.
Semi-annual - 5 – 8 years
Early elementary
Reading takes off. Friendships matter. Time for the first money, screen, and consent conversations.
Annual - 8 – 11 years
Tween
Identity emerging. Social comparison sharpens. The runway for the smartphone conversation.
Annual - 11 – 14 years
Early adolescent
Puberty, peers, the brain rebuild. Your job becomes coach, not director. Stay close.
Annual - 14 – 17 years
Middle adolescent
Driving, dating, identity, mental health. Connection through conflict is the protective factor.
Annual - 17 – 22 years
Emerging adult
College, work, the launch. Coaching from a distance. The relationship is the goal.
